This pilgrimage is full of visits to the actual places where Jesus walked, including the Wedding Church in Cana, the House of the Holy Family, the Old City of Jerusalem, and the Tomb of St. Lazarus. We'll also see the Mount of Temptation, the Dead Sea, the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem, and the Mount of Olives. Go to St. Peter's Square, Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel, and the Colosseum. Spend time in Assisi and see the major basilicas.

Your Pilgrimage Itinerary...

June 18, 2018: Depart Chicago International Airport for an overnight flight to Israel.
 
June 19: On arrival in Tel Aviv, our professional Tour Manager will greet us and take us by deluxe motor coach to our hotel on the Mediterranean coast. We will have an evening of leisure followed by dinner at our hotel. Overnight Tel Aviv
 
June 20: Today we travel up the coastline to the ancient Roman city of Caesarea and then onto Haifa. We’ll visit the Carmelite Monastery of “ Stella Maris “.  Here is Elijah’s Grotto and home of Our Lady of Mount Carmel where our Chaplain will Celebrate Mass. Next, we visit Nazareth and see Mary’s Well where the Angel Gabriel told Mary she would give birth to Our Lord Jesus Christ. Also, we will visit St. Joseph’s Church and the Church of Annunciation. Continue to Cana to visit the Wedding Church, site of Jesus’s first miracle. Overnight Galilee
 
June 21: Today, we sail across the Sea of Galilee. See the “Jesus Boat“,  uncovered in 1986 from the mud of the seashore. Visit the Church of St. Peter’s Primacy and explore Capernaum with the new church built on St. Peter’s house. See Chorazim, which was cursed by Our Lord because the people did not follow his teachings. Drive to the Mount of Beatitudes where Our Lord preached the Sermon on the Mount, where you have Mass, and lunch at the Franciscan Convent.  Then to Tabgha, Greek for Seven Springs and the Church of the Multiplication of Fishes and Loave. Overnight Galilee
 
June 22: Start the day with Mass at Mt. Tabor and the Church of Transfiguration, before passing through breathtaking scenery of Samaria to Jacob’s Well, where Jesus met the Samarian Women. On to Jericho, the oldest known inhabited city in the world. This afternoon, follow the Ancient Pilgrims route via the Samaritan Inn to Jerusalem. Overnight Jerusalem
 
June 23: Enjoy the view from the Mount of Olives, visit the Church of Pater Noster and the Chapel of Ascension. Walk down the Palm Sunday Road, stopping at the Chapel of Dominus Flevit where you celebrate Mass. Continue to the Church of All Nations in the Garden of Gethsemane. Descend across the Kidron Valley, to the Church of St. Peter in Gallicantu where Peter denied Christ three times. Continue on to Mt. Zion to visit the room of the Last Supper, King David’s Tomb and the Church of the Dormition. Complete the day in Bethany, house of Mary and Lazarus. Overnight in Jerusalem

June 24: Start the day by visiting Bethlehem, Shepherd’s Field and Grotto. See the Church of Nativity built over the birthplace of Our Lord and St. Catherine’s over the tomb of St. Jerome. Here you celebrate Mass. On the way back to Jerusalem stop at the village of Ein Karem, the birthplace of St. John the Baptist, and see the Church of Visitation where Mary visited her cousin Elizabeth. In Jerusalem, you have a panoramic tour of the New City. Overnight Jerusalem
 
June 25: Enter the Old City to see the Wailing Wall and the Temple Mount.  See the Pool of Bethesda, St. Anne’s Church, the Chapel of Flagellation and Condemnation, the Prison, Ecco Home Arch and onto the Via Dolorosa, the Way of the Cross to the Holy Sepulchre. Tonight we depart via flight to Rome. Overnight Rome
 
June 26: This morning, we will make our way back to Rome via motorcoach to participate in a Papal audience (pending the Pope’s schedule) at St. Peter’s Square. Following lunch, we participate in a guided tour of St. Peter’s Basilica and the Vatican Museums, including the Sistine Chapel. Before dinner, we will visit the Colosseum, Arch of Constantine, and the Roman Forum. Overnight Rome
 
June 27: Today, we make our way to Assisi, home and foundation of the Franciscan Order. On the way, we’ll visit the town of Orvieto and the cathedral that was built to commemorate the “Eucharistic Miracle of Bolsena.” On arrival into Assisi we’ll visit the church of St. Mary of the Angels as well as the cave that St. Francis often retired to pray. Following lunch and Mass at the Basilica of Saint Francis of Assisi, we take a guided tour of the basilica and make our way up the hill to the Church of St. Clare, where we’ll have an opportunity to venerate her tomb where her body lies, barely corrupt after many centuries. Remaining of the afternoon spent at leisure observing the peace and tranquility that make Assisi so timeless. Overnight Rome
 
June 28: Today we visit the Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls (the burial place of St. Paul, one of the five patriarchal Basilicas and the second largest church in Rome). In the afternoon we will visit the Basilica of Mary Major (which was built after a miraculous event and embellished to celebrate the ecumenical council of Ephesus). We also visit Santa Pudenziana, one of the oldest churches in Rome, where St. Peter and St. Paul resided for a time. Finally, we visit Santa Prassede a 9th-century basilica with glorious Byzantine mosaics celebrating images from the book of Revelation. Tonight we gather for our Farewell Dinner. Overnight Rome
 
June 29: With a renewed sense of pilgrimage and an invigorated love of our Catholic faith, we will board our plane for our flight home.
