Your Pilgrimage Itinerary...

June 5 ~ Morning departure from Houston IAH Airport for our flight to San Diego, California. Our first visit is to the Mission Basilica San Diego de Alcalá, known as the “Mother of the Alta California Missions” where our Chaplain will celebrate the opening Mass. Before checking into our hotel we will also visit the Mission San Luis Rey de Francia. St. Louis led the crusades to regain the Holy Land for Christ. Overnight Oceanside  (Dinner)

June 6 ~ We set off to visit and participate in Mass at the Mission San Juan Capistrano, named after the 14th century theologian, one of the most picturesque sites in all of California. Next, we’ll visit the famous Christ Cathedral (the former Crystal Cathedral), now the home of the diocese – and tour its stunning façade and the magnificent gardens that surround it. We continue on to visit the Carmelite Sisters of the Most Sacred Heart of Los Angeles in Alhambra where the sisters will serve us lunch. Next, we visit the Mission San Gabriel Arcángel, aka the“Pride of the Missions” followed by a brief tour of the LA area. Overnight Ventura (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)

June 7 ~ Morning visit and Mass at the Mission San Buenaventura, named after St. Bonaventure. We then visit the Mission Santa Barbara, known as the “Queen of the Missions.” Following a break for lunch, we’ll enjoy the lovely city of Santa Barbara and afterwards proceed to the unique city of Solvang, where the old world charm of Northern Europe meets the blue skies of Southern California. Overnight Solvang (Breakfast & Dinner)

June 8 ~ We depart the Santa Barbara area for the scenic drive to Carmel and Monterey. Our first stop along the way is at the Mission San Luis Obispo where we will participate in Mass followed by quick drive by of Mission Santa Ines. We then proceed to Route 1, which will take us through California’s coast line and through the Big Sur, making stops to observe the Bixby Creek Bridge, Pfeiffer Beach, and McWay Falls. Overnight Monterey (Breakfast & Dinner)

June 9 ~ After breakfast, we’re off to visit and participate in Mass at the Mission San Carlos Borroméo del río Carmelo, where St. Junípero Serra is entombed beneath the sanctuary of this mission church. We’ll view his sarcophagus as well as that of three of his fellow missionaries. This afternoon we will enjoy the beautiful 17-Mile Drive which takes us through coastline and the Pebble Beach Resort. This evening we will have leisure time for dinner down at the Cannery row in Monterey. Overnight Monterey (Breakfast)

June 10 ~ This morning we travel to Santa Clara where we find ourselves in the middle of the Santa Clara University campus to visit the Mission Santa Clara de Asís. Following our visit, we stop at the Mission of San José, an active participant in the Parish of St. Joseph. We break for lunch, then proceed to visit and participate in Mass at the Mission San Francisco de Asís, home to the “National Shrine Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes.”  We cap the day with some leisure time for dinner in the Pier 39 area of San Francisco. Overnight San Francisco (Breakfast)

June 11 ~ Following breakfast, we proceed to the famed Sonoma Wine Region and Marin County area by crossing the Golden Gate Bridge for a visit to the 21st and last of the originally established California Missions: the Mission San Francisco Solano, which is nestled in the wine country 40 miles north of San Francisco and across from the site of the Bear Flag Revolt of 1846. Mass at the Mission and if time allows we will visit a winery. We finish out the day with a Farewell Dinner in the Pier 39 area of San Francisco  Overnight San Francisco (Breakfast & Dinner)

June 12 ~ With a renewed sense of pilgrimage and an invigorated love of our Catholic faith, we board our plane for the return flight home.

June 12 ~ Today we set off to visit Napa Valley!  Among some of the wineries we will visit our the Trinitas Cellars, named after the Trinity, this winery has its very own chapel dedicated to Our Lady of Guadalupe. Overnight Napa Region (Breakfast & Dinner)

June 13 ~ Morning at leisure. We set off to take a memorable ride through world-famous vineyards aboard the Napa Valley Wine Train, complete with a gourmet lunch. Settle into the gorgeously refurbished historic train and enjoy the passing scenery through large picture windows. Savor a three-course lunch in an antique dining car as you roll through the charming towns and sprawling vineyards of Napa Valley. Disembark at your choice of winery for a guided tour and tasting. It’s the most relaxing, elegant way to see Napa!  Overnight Napa Region (Breakfast & Lunch)

June 14 ~ Today we transfer from our hotel to the airport in San Francisco for the return flight home.
