  • Our pilgrimage in the footsteps of the great saints of Italy begins as we depart from our local airport for an overnight flight to Rome, Italy.

  • Upon arrival in Rome, we’ll be greeted by our Canterbury tour manager. If time allows, we’ll enjoy a sightseeing tour of the city. We’ll check into our hotel and enjoy our welcome dinner. Dinner and overnight in Rome

  • After breakfast, we’re off to Saint Peter’s Square for the Papal general audience with the Holy Father (subject to the Pope’s schedule). Following a lunch break, we’ll tour the Vatican Museum, the Sistine Chapel, and St. Peter’s Basilica, built on the site where Saint Peter, the chief apostle, died a martyr and was buried in 64 AD. Dinner and overnight in Rome

  • We’ll enjoy breakfast before departing for a panoramic sightseeing tour of the city, visiting the Piazza Venezia, the Circus Maximus, the Arch of Constantine, the Colosseum, and the Roman Forum today. Dinner and overnight in Rome

  • Following breakfast, we will visit the Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls, the Church of St. Mary Major, as well as the Archbasilica of St. John Lateran where we’ll have an opportunity to climb the Lateran Steps. We’ll enjoy an afternoon and dinner in Rome at our own leisure. Overnight in Rome

  • After breakfast this morning, we’ll start the day at Saint Cecilia’s Basilica. We’ll continue our sightseeing tour with a visit to the Basilica of St. Bartholomew and the Museum of the Holy Souls in Purgatory. We’ll enjoy a delicious scoop of Italian gelato together at the Piaza Navona this afternoon. After some leisure time, we’ll continue our tour at the Church of Saint Maria sopra Minerva. Here, we’ll view and pray amongst the tomb of St. Catherine of Siena, a philosopher and theologian who had a great influence on the Catholic Church. We’ll continue onto the Pantheon, which boasts the largest dome of its kind in the world, and the Church of the Gesù, the mother church of the Jesuit Order. Dinner and overnight in Rome

  • After we enjoy breakfast, we’re off to the Basilica of Saint Peter in Chains where we’ll have the opportunity to view the chains that had held St. Peter while he was in the Mamertine prison in Rome. After some time for prayer, we’ll visit the Church of Saint Alphonsus Ligouri, home of the original icon of Our Mother of Perpetual Help. Dinner and overnight in Rome

  • Following breakfast, we’ll spend the morning visiting the ancient Catacombs of Rome where Mass will be celebrated in an underground chapel. After Mass, we’ll make our way above ground to visit the Saint Gregorio al Cielo Convent, the convent where Saint Teresa of Calcutta resided when in Rome. The remainder of the day is at leisure. Dinner and overnight in Rome

  • After breakfast, we'll say farewell to Rome and continue our journey north. We’ll arrive at the hilltop village of Assisi this afternoon, the birthplace of Saint Francis of Assisi, and a UNESCO world heritage site known for its magnificent medieval architecture. Saint Francis abandoned a life of luxury for a life devoted to Christianity after hearing the voice of God, who asked him to rebuild the Christian church and live in poverty. Still today, Assisi bears testimony to the iconic saint’s lifestyle. Mass will be celebrated before dinner. Dinner and overnight in Assisi

  • Following breakfast, we’ll have the opportunity to visit and pray at the Basilica of Saint Francis, the Convent of Saint Clare, and the Basilica of Saint Mary of the Angels with the Portiuncula Chapel. We will have time to enjoy Assisi at our own leisure this afternoon. We’ll enjoy a special farewell dinner tonight. Farewell dinner and overnight in Assisi

  • We will transfer south to Rome's airport this morning. With a renewed sense of pilgrimage, and an invigorated love of our Catholic faith, we’ll board our plane for the return flight home.
