Join the Diocese of Sioux City and Fr. David Esquiliano on a pilgrimage to World Youth Day 2019! This World Youth Day will take place in Panama, and will include cultural festivities, catechesis from Bishops around the world, music, shows, and special exhibits. There will be a Pilgrimage Walk, Eucharistic Adoration with Pope Francis, and a vigil under the stars. We'll also have time to explore the Panama Canal! Young and old are all invited!

 

A special message from Bishop Walker Nickless...
The Catholic Globe and Canterbury Pilgrimages are collaborating on a trip to World Youth Day, Jan. 21-28, 2018 in Panama. I am pleased that Father David Esquiliano, a priest of the Diocese of Sioux City who is fluent in Spanish, will serve as the chaplain on this trip. Please consider joining this pilgrimage, in solidarity with Pope Francis.

Your Pilgrimage Itinerary...

Monday, January 21, 2019: We begin our pilgrimage journey as we depart on our flight to Panama. We are greeted by our Canterbury Tour Manager, who will accompany us for the duration of our pilgrimage, and make our way via deluxe motor coach to our hotel. Overnight Panamá

Tuesday, January 22: After enjoying breakfast at our hotel, we enjoy an opening Mass, followed by a guided tour of the beautiful Panama City. We’ll see the historic center Casco Viejo, which is paved with cobblestone and home to many cafes, as well as the Palacio Presidencial. We’ll also see the Miraflores Locks- where ships make their way down the Panama Canal. We’ll receive our World Youth Day kits which include a backpack, badges, and lunch and dinner meal tickets among other things. Overnight Panamá

Wednesday, January 23: Today the World Youth Day events begin! After breakfast, we’ll enjoy Catechesis with Bishops from around the world, opportunities for prayer, reconciliation, music, shows, and exhibits. These events will be held at hosting sites in Panama, including local churches, schools, and auditoriums. Overnight Panamá

Thursday, January 24: World Youth Day events continue! Today we enjoy catechesis, opportunities for prayer, reconciliation, music, shows, and exhibits. These events will be held at hosting sites in Panama, including local churches, schools, and auditoriums. Overnight Panamá

Friday, January 25: World Youth Day events continue! Today we enjoy catechesis from the Bishops, opportunities for prayer, reconciliation, music, shows, and exhibits. We end the day in anticipation of the arrival of our Holy Father with the Stations of the Cross. Overnight Panamá

Saturday, January 26: Today we unite with pilgrims from around the world for the Pilgrimage Walk to the vigil site. Pope Francis arrives this evening and we enjoy Eucharistic Adoration and a night of prayer and reflection. We sleep under the stars. Overnight Panamá

Sunday, January 27: This morning we attend the closing Mass, celebrated by the Pope joined with the many bishops and priests from around the World. We are encouraged and inspired by the Pope’s address to World Youth Day Participants, and learn where the next World Youth Day will be held. Following Mass we head back to our Hotel. Overnight Panamá

Monday, January 28: Depart for Home: This morning we depart from Panama and head back home, with fond memories in our hearts and renewed spirits.
