The Grotto of Massabielle · Lourdes
France, May 17 to 27, 2027
Eleven days, nine nights in Lisieux, Mont-Saint-Michel, Paris, Paray-le-Monial and Lourdes, with Rouen, Omaha Beach, Chartres, Nevers and Ars along the way, and Mass each day.
Departure
Today our pilgrimage begins as we depart the United States on an overnight flight to Paris.
Arrival in Paris, Rouen & Lisieux
Upon landing in Paris, we will collect our bags then meet our Canterbury tour manager and bus driver at the airport. We will board our bus and transfer to Rouen to visit the place where Joan of Arc was imprisoned, tried, and burned on the market square. If time allows, we will visit the Joan of Arc Museum containing a series of life-size wax re-creations depicting important moments in Joan’s life. We will see the white cross on the market square established on the place where she was burned. Next, we continue on to Lisieux. Welcome dinner.
Omaha Beach & Lisieux
After breakfast, we continue to Normandy to see Omaha Beach, where Allied troops stormed ashore to launch the D-Day invasion. We will have a break for lunch before returning to Lisieux. We will celebrate Mass at the Basilica of St. Thérèse and then visit the home and Carmelite Monastery of St. Thérèse, the “Little Flower.”
Mont-Saint-Michel
Today we will visit Mont-Saint-Michel, perched on a rocky island in the Gulf of Saint-Malo. Before exploring the commune and its Abbey, we will celebrate Mass in a local chapel.
Chartres & Paris
After breakfast, we will board our bus and head to Chartres. Upon arrival, we will celebrate Mass at the magnificent 13th-century Gothic Chartres Cathedral. Afterward, enjoy lunch and some time at leisure to visit Chartres on your own before continuing to Paris. On arrival into Paris, we will have a sightseeing tour with an overview of the city, such as the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe.
Paris, Rue du Bac & Saint-Sulpice
Today we will visit the Shrine of the Miraculous Medal on the Rue du Bac and celebrate Mass. Our Lady appeared to St. Catherine Labouré and asked her to have a medal made with the inscription, “O Mary conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee.” Next, we’ll visit Église Saint-Sulpice, the Shrine of St. Vincent de Paul, and the Church of St. Mary Magdalene.
Paris, Sacré-Cœur & Notre-Dame
Following breakfast, we will celebrate Mass in the Romanesque and Byzantine Sacré-Cœur on Montmartre Hill. We’ll also visit the famous Notre-Dame de Paris, with its Gallery of the Kings, its many chapels, and the Rose Window. This afternoon, we will visit Sainte-Chapelle and the Louvre Museum.
Nevers & Paray-le-Monial
Morning departure for Nevers, France. Upon arrival, we will celebrate Mass and visit the Convent of St. Gildard. Afterward, explore the town before journeying south to Paray-le-Monial to visit the Basilica of the Sacred Heart.
Ars & Lourdes
After breakfast, we will continue to Ars, home of the Basilica of St. John Vianney. We will celebrate Mass here before spending time in prayer before the incorrupt body of the saint. Next, we will head to Lyon and board a flight to Toulouse. This afternoon, we will drive to Lourdes and have time at leisure to visit the Grotto of Massabielle. We will take part in an evening candlelight procession.
Lourdes
Today, we begin with a celebration of Mass at the grotto. After Mass, we will have a guided tour of St. Bernadette’s home and the basilicas, gaining a deeper understanding of her life and relationship with Mary. This afternoon is free for adoration, personal prayer, or shopping. We will gather this evening for a Eucharistic Procession. Farewell dinner.
Return home
With a deeper love for Mary, gratitude to God, and wonderful memories of our pilgrimage, we will transfer to the airport and board our flight(s) home.

Frequently asked questions
This is an active program that covers a good amount of ground each day. Expect a wake-up call around 7am, departure by 9am and a return to the hotel between 5pm and 6pm. You should be able to walk 3 to 4 miles a day at a moderate pace, with uneven surfaces, stairs, cobblestones and some slopes. Mont-Saint-Michel is a steep climb on stone steps to the abbey, and there are long coach days from Paris to Paray-le-Monial and from Ars to Lourdes by way of a flight from Lyon to Toulouse.
Late May is usually mild across France, with cool mornings and warmer afternoons. Normandy can be breezy and showery and Lourdes sees rain often, so bring a light rain jacket or umbrella, layers for the evening processions and comfortable walking shoes.
Yes. Your passport must be valid for at least six months beyond the return date, and passport cards are not accepted for international travel. We need your passport details at least 90 days before departure. Entry rules for Europe can change, so we will let you know before departure if anything new applies to your trip.
Rates are per person based on two pilgrims sharing a room. Shared rooms are always doubles with two beds. If you are travelling alone we will try to match you with a roommate of the same gender; if we cannot, the single room supplement applies.
Yes. The price includes group airfare; if you book your own flights, the price is reduced by $1,000. Tell us at registration so we can line your arrival up with the group’s in Paris on May 18. The group flies home from France on May 27.
Final payment is due on February 16, 2027, 90 days before departure. Payment plans are available if you would like to make smaller payments before then.
We strongly encourage travel insurance for all of our pilgrims, and we partner with Allianz Travel Insurance to offer affordable coverage. Most of our pilgrims choose the Classic Plan. Insurance can be quoted and purchased after registration.
