Peace of mind, from home to holy site
Coverage options for your pilgrimage, and who to contact about your policy before and during travel.
Before you travel
Most pilgrims book six months to a year ahead, and airfare, hotels and ground arrangements are committed well before departure. Travel insurance is what stands between an unexpected illness, a family emergency or a missed connection and the money you have already spent. Canterbury offers four Allianz Travel Insurance plans, and we are happy to talk you through which one fits your trip. Cover can still be bought right up to the day you leave, so it is never too late to ask.
The plans
Cancel for a reason your plan covers and all four reimburse 100% of the trip cost you insured. What changes between them is how much they pay on everything else, and whether you can cancel for a reason no policy lists at all.
Classic
The plan most pilgrims choose. Full medical limits and the strongest pre-existing condition coverage.
Classic with Cancel Anytime
Classic, plus the freedom to cancel for almost any unexpected reason a policy would not otherwise cover.
Premier
The top plan, for higher cost trips. Double Classic’s cancellation and medical maximums, and children travel free.
Basic
Essential protection at the lowest premium, for pilgrims who mainly want their deposit protected.
Dollar figures are maximum benefits, not fixed payouts. Classic is the plan we recommend for most pilgrims. The Allianz quote tool below runs its own recommendation, which changes with the trip, so it may highlight a different plan. Either is yours to choose. The 80% belongs to Cancel Anytime alone, and only when you cancel for a reason the plan does not cover. A cancellation for a covered reason is reimbursed in full on every plan. Unless otherwise specified, all coverage amounts are for each insured individual on a policy. Plans are priced on the total cost of the trip, the traveler’s age and the state of residence. The figures above summarize the plans; the plan documents govern in every case.
Timing
Insurance can be added at any point up to the day you travel, and most of what a plan does is unchanged whenever you buy it. Two benefits are the exception, and both of them expire quietly 14 days after your initial deposit.
That is the whole reason we raise insurance early. Waiting costs nothing on the Basic and Classic plans. It costs you these two.
Covered reasons are already reimbursed at 100% on every plan. Cancel Anytime is for the rest: cancel for almost any unexpected reason no policy lists and be reimbursed 80% of your trip cost. Available only on the Classic plan, and only if it is purchased within 14 days of your initial deposit.
Covered if the full non-refundable cost of your trip is insured on the date of purchase and the plan is bought within 14 days of your initial deposit. After that window, pre-existing conditions are not covered on any plan.
Quote and buy
Allianz prices each plan on your trip cost, your age and your state of residence, so there is no fixed rate card. Enter your trip below to see real prices, and buy the plan you choose on the spot.
Prefer to talk it through? Call us at (800) 653-0017 and we will quote all four plans for you. Insurance can be added to an existing booking as well as a new one, so it is never too late to ask.
If you buy online, Allianz sends your policy documents to you and a copy to us, so your certificate number is automatically applied to your booking. Keep your documents somewhere you can find them while you travel.
